  • 1880s Flathead Child’s Dress
  • This Is One Of The Oldest Dresses We’ve Had In A Long Time
  • Late 1800s Victorian silk velvet with a very heavy nap
  • It is edged and lined in silk
  • Neck line is old braintanned buckskin as is the attached collar and belt pouch
  • The pouch and collar are very old glass seed beads which are sinew sewn
  • The colors are mustard, wine, brown, light pink, Bodmer blue, robin’s egg blue, lime green and greasy yellow
  • Both the pouch, which is a bag and is not one-sided, and the collar are fully edge-beaded
  • The belt, which came with the dress, is definitely a generation later and circa 1900 – 1930
  • It is classic plateau beadwork on canvas with the design worked in varying sizes of glass beads
  • Colors are old rose, cobalt blue, robin’s egg blue and a rusty brown
  • The belt ties with long braintanned buckskin thongs
  • The dress measures 2′ 2 3/8″ wide at the yolk x 2′ 1″ in length
  • Native American Beadwork
