1930s Sterling Aztec Onyx Face Pendant

  • 1930s Sterling Aztec Onyx Face Pendant
  • A Nice 1930s Inlaid Pendant Of Sterling Silver With An Elaborate Aztec Face
  • The face is surrounded by an elaborate sterling silver headdress showing very fine chisel work
  • Headdress is inlaid with finely cut abalone shell and is notched in four places adding to the detail
  • The carved onyx face protrudes from the surface of the pendant about 1/4″ giving it an unusual three dimensional appearance
  • Beads selected for this necklace, and strung on jeweler’s wire, are unusual square cut abalone shell, heirloom sterling silver rounds and round onyx beads
  • The back of the pendant is marked “Hecho En Mexico” “M.J.R. 925” and “STERLING”
  • Back of the pendant retains its original pin so it can also be restored as a brooch.
  • However the bale is soldered shut and the necklace would need to be taken apart in order to do this. A nice option
  • The pendant is2 1/8″ in diameter
  • Necklace, with the pendant, hangs 10 3/4″ long
  • Tribal Jewelry
