1940s Jemez Pueblo Four Color Polychrome Pot

  • This Is A Beautifully Symmetrical Traditional Pueblo Olla
  • It is a very ornate design in four colors, all natural pigments
  • The bottom of the pot is flat
  • The bottom quadrant of red has a stone polish finish
  • The rim and shoulder quadrants are fired-on paints but are unpolished
  • There is no signature as can be expected with an early pot of this type
  • There are two design quadrants, both repeated twice
  • The pot has a very VERY minimal amount of pin prick spalls on the bottom quadrant.
  • During this time period, this pueblo was having some problems with firing their clay and spalling was occurring
  • The pot is 6 3/4″ tall x 6 1/4″ in diameter
  • Native American Pueblo Pottery
