These Late 1800 Yupik Sealskin Mukluks Are Bering Sea Eskimo Footwear Exhibiting The Finest Techniques Of Construction.

  • Late 1800 Yupik Sealskin Mukluks
  • Most of the fur has worn off
  • The bottom sole portion is a single piece that they managed to fold by chewing and made about 72 creases in the center of the toe on one moccasin and 76 creases on the back of one moccasin
  • Around the vamp and up the tall seams, the boots are welted
  • A folded cuff tops each boot
  • They have a gorgeous patina with no holes and not a stitch loose except for the cuff hem of one moccasin where about 5″ of that seam has come loose
  • They were probably for a woman
  • They measure 8 3/4″ heal to toe and stand 16″ high
  • Unlike some sealskin pieces, these have absolutely no scent and no mite holes
  • Condition is excellent
